The Eastern Michigan Eagles and the Duke Blue Devils meet in a college basketball matchup from Cameron Indoor Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles will look for a massive road win to build on their 3-0 start to the year following a 97-74 win over subdivision Goshen in their last outing. Elijah Minnie led the Eagles with 17 points on 7 of 14 shooting while Boubacar Toure, Malik Ellison and Kevin McAdoo each had 10 points to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for the Eagles in the winning effort. Paul Jackson had 9 points and a team-high 5 assists while James Thompson IV added 6 points and a team-high 9 rebounds in the win. Jackson leads Eastern Michigan with 18.7 points and 6 assists per game while Toure leads the Eagles in rebounding by averaging a double-double per game with 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds this season. As a team, Eastern Michigan is averaging 80 points per game on 52.2% shooting from the field, 32.1% from behind the arc and 67.3% from the foul line this season.

The Duke Blue Devils will look to add another win to their belt, sitting at 2-0 following a 94-72 win over Army in their last outing. Zion Williamson led the Blue Devils with 27 points on 11 of 14 shooting with a game-high 16 rebounds and 6 blocks for the double-double. Cam Reddish added 25 points on 9 of 21 shooting with 7 threes and 7 rebounds while R.J. Barrett added 23 points to round out the three headed monster of double-digit scorers for Duke in the win. Tre Jones chipped in 8 points while dishing out a team-high 7 assists as well in the winning effort. Barrett leads Duke with an average of 28 points per game while Jones leads the Blue Devils with 7 assists per game and Williamson is averaging a double-double per game with 27.5 points to go along with his team-high 11.5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Duke is averaging 106 points per game on 51.7% shooting from the field, 43.5% from behind the arc and 69% from the foul line this season.
Eastern Michigan is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games against the ACC while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 non-conference games. Duke is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall.
Eastern Michigan’s start to the year is nice on the surface, but two of those games were against subdivision opponents, and the other was a narrow 4-point win over Drexel as a 13-point favorite. Duke on the other hand is looking like they’re deserving of their recognition as the top team in the country and if the Blue Devils can take it to a top-tier team like Kentucky, I shudder to think what they’ll do to the likes of Eastern Michigan so I’ll lay the points with the Blue Devils in a 3rd consecutive rout to start the year.
